|Ten years ago Professor Charles Xavier founded the X-Men, a team of mutant superheroes who fought to protect a world that hated and feared their kind, in the belief that humans and mutants could live together in harmony. Today, there are more mutants than ever and, more and more, people are starting to accept them – but those who hate and fear them are getting louder.
Xavier's haven for mutants closed after the apparent defeat of their old foe Magneto three years ago, but in September 2009 the Professor opened its gates again: as a real school, somewhere young mutants can go to simply learn and grow in an environment where they'll be safe from persecution ... and now, perhaps more than ever, they need it.
The Xavier Institute is an AU panfandom livejournal roleplay set at the Xavier Institute, a school for youngsters whose genetic mutations grant them unusual gifts. It is, obviously, based on X-Men, but no in-depth knowledge of any incarnation of the team (or the Institute) is required. The faculty and student body are, after all, unlikely to be exactly the same as any canon version, since characters from any kind of series are welcome as students or staff.
Teen drama! Supervillains! Politics! MUTANT PROM! It's a high school AU with eye lasers. We regret nothing.
